This is your opportunity to buy a share in an amazing Ex-bourbon cask distilled in heart of Dumfries and Galloway. Keith is one of a pair of casks we had filled in Spring of 2022. This smoky cask does have a brother, aptly named Mick, soaking in an Oloroso sherry cask.

This cask has been filled with vibrant peated spirit from a particularly gorgeous distillery just a hop skip and a jump from the stunning Galloway coast. This freshly filled cask is bright, malty and voracious with sweet peat. Still less than a year old, the spirit is still malty which we expect to mellow with time and sweet fruit to develop. The straw colour imparted by ex-bourbon wood is already beginning to seep into spirit, giving it the look of white wine. Behind the sweet peat, spice and sweetness stand in abundance. We expect the years ahead to develop rich fruity flavours, mellow the malt and peat. Peated lowland whisky is a rarity these days and this casks is –quite simply- a treat. This cask was filled with 256 litres of new make spirit in Spring of 2022 at a filling strength of 64.1% alcohol. This spirit, commonly named Kirkcowan or Lingdarroch harks from a beautiful and historic distillery recently re-awoken. Only a small portion of the production is peated making this particularly unusual. The next 8 years promise great things. Bottling is due in Summer of 2030 at 8 years old.

FAQ's

Cask shares split single cask whisky into smaller and more affordable chunks. Rather than having to shell out thousands for a full cask, cask shares allow multiple people to buy part shares in the same cask reducing the cost while giving you access to all the benefits of cask ownership. We call this a “Syndicate” bottling.

Every cask of whisky  is unique and as such, yields a different number of bottles. These are divided into shares which are for sale through our website. When you purchase your whisky cask share we issue you with a certificate of ownership of your share for the cask purchased.

The Uncharted Whisky Co. then takes care of everything for you from the storage to the bottling once the cask is of age and the tax payments. We also provide you with yearly updates on your cask’s maturation progress,  tasting notes, strength and colouring. Once per year, you can order a sample of the cask to do your own tasting.
