The Rumours series finale. This is the third of three exceptional casks, all from the salty shores of Islay, all cask strength and all enigmatically un-disclosed distilleries of origin. Each bottle has been lovingly bottled by hand, hand labelled and individually numbered. Through-out this sought after Rumours series, we have not been able to name any of the Islay distilleries on the labels, but we have always been able to hint… maybe even started a Rumour or three?
Check out the clues below for Chapter 3 and remember it’s one of the Islays…
Natural cask strength, single cask and only 259 bottles…
Clue 1 – An Image
Clue 2 – A riddle
If I was asked to describe it, I would say that it is THE quintessential Islay whisky.
If I was mixed up, I would say, a graph oil.
If I was asked to describe it in three words, I would say Blurred. Movie. Impulsive.
WHY THE NAME? - RUMOURS
We name all of our releases. The name is chosen specially to suit the individual cask. The age, taste, character, rarity and strength all contributing. Sometimes they name themselves. Single cask whisky of an un-named distillery always creates excitement, chatter and speculation- particularly when the cask is so rare. Many whisky lovers love the mystique of a un-named distillery and the challenge of working it out. So here is Rumours- Chapter 3, and the gauntlet is once again thrown down. As we haven’t been able to name this exceptional Islay distillery, we have named it Rumours after one of the worlds grestest and most timeless albums. Can you work it out?
WHICH DISTILLERY?
Alas, we cannot say but that it is one of the Islay 10. Feel free to guess, ask us on social media, email us, call us, send a carrier pigeon. You will receive no answer. We shall remain silent as a stone and neither confirm nor deny any guess. A rumour it shall remain- second hand news, if you will. Perhaps the clues above will help…

Nose
At first rich and mellow seaside smoke and smoky bacon ascend out the glass. More delicate lemon drizzle cake and oak emerge a little later on.
Palate
Lemon oil coats the mouth mingling beautifully with the smoke mellowed by the years. Fresh baking aromatics accompany crisp fragrances. A touch of water brings freshly cracker pepper to life.
Finish
In contrast to many whiskies, the finish exposes a rich earthiness that builds with time rather than fades. Long and smoky with touches of the pepper and savoury baking.
