THE WHISKY
Back In Brack single malt was distilled at Royal Brackla distillery, is 13 years old, is super aromatic, and absolutely kicking at the natural cask strength of 60.1%. Distilled a few miles from Nairn on the Moray coast, this uber fruity spirit was filled into a Hogshead on day one and it stayed there until we bottled it. Natural colour, un-filtered, full strength, there’s nothing shy about this whisky.
This has been bottled already, labels are printed and will be on it’s way to you w/c 13 May at the latest.
THE STORY
The full story of this cask… the malt ran from the stills in August of 2010. It was filled into the ex-bourbon hogshead then. Uncharted took ownership in early 2024. Some of this cask was used to refill an ex-sherry quarter cask arising from a bottling we did around Christmas 2023 (maybe you remember the Uncharted private release Slackdhu?).
We found ourselves really impressed by the super drinkable and fruity nature of the spirit in it’s natural form- without any sherry cask influence and at natural cask strength. Often hogsheads are pretty un-remarkable and need re-racked into a new cask but every once and a while, we come across a cracker. We decided to bottle the remaining liquid as it was.
We set about coming up with a name. The rules for us naming whisky are simple:
1. It’s gotta be rocking
2. We’ve got to like the record- Dana and I have got to be able to look the Uncharted drammers in the eye and honestly tell them that we love everything about a whisky, name included. We can’t bottle it otherwise.
3. The name has got to make sense, or have something to do with the spirit.
4. It’s got to be fun. We strongly believe that if you’re not having fun making whisky, you’re doing it wrong.
So, we put it to the Uncharted Whisky community on Facebook to vote for their favourite name from our ideas or suggest their own. Through popular vote, a clear winner rose… Back In Brack. You can join the group to make sure you get to vote next time!

Nose
Lemon drizzle cake, icing sugar, a touch vegetal, and estery pear drops
Palate
Alive and kicking!! Bright sharp citrus fruits, baking, boiled sweets, yoghurt, tinned pineapple and oak.
Finish
Buttery, unctuous and smooth. A fizzy sweet tingle and baked orchard fruits.
