BOWMORE – 11 Years OlD – FRESH BOURBON BARREL – ISLAY
Bowmore… THE Bowmore.
Coveted by indie bottlers and Islay whisky lovers alike For years, Bowmore spirit was nigh on impossible to get our hands on but now… we have two. Two different ages, two different wood types, two ways to experience Islay’s most prestigious distillery. This one is 11 years old, first fill bourbon maturation, and at natural cask strength- 56.7%.
What Set’s This Apart From the Distillery Bottlings? Bowmore is a luxury brand owned by a big company. A really big company. The way they create bottles is different to us. They have a massive global route to market and price points to hit and that requires consistency. ABV reduction, colouring, and blending for consistency in flavour. Please don’t think we are decrying these practices! Scotch would be lost without the big guys making the big volume products. Our independent bottler role let’s us capture variation. It’s ideal for our colour, flavour, and ABV to change because our tribe want a natural product presented exactly as it is.
So what’s different? The unique nature of these particular casks, the colour, the natural cask strength, the age, and the chance to try two sister bottlings side by side- One Way Or Another.
What’s In A Name? We do love a rock n roll reference, and these two sister bottlings allow us to experience spirit born of the same stills but maturated differently, for different periods of time, producing indie Bowmore “One Way Or Another”.
The Specifics? Distilled in June of 2015 on Islay, bottled in Alexandria the first week in August 2026. This release is made up of two first fill ex- Jim Beam barrels disgorged and vatted to marry together for weeks before bottling at natural cask strength and colour. There’s 565 bottles from this batch which isn’t a lot over 13 countries! This is available now and will be sent to you immediately.

Nose
Salty peat, sugary breakfast cereal, icing sugar and a touch of wood at the back end
Palate
Bright and salty. Cereals persist driving the flavour profile as opposed to fruit driven whiskies. This starts sugary sweet before drying out to tingling oak and spice with a generous honey note and texture.
Finish
The sugar sweet fades to oak and delicate smoke leaving a satisfying warmth in the mouth and chest.
